Sedona, Watercolor 18 x 24 inches
My mother, noticing my artistic talent, sent me to formal art lessons when I was just 9 years old. My art teacher introduced me to chalk pastels, watercolors, and oil paints. I continued to create art through my high school and college years, but after my baby was born, I became too busy to draw and paint. My mother kept after me and finally I began to create fine artworks in 2015 and haven't been able to stop since then. My favorite mediums at the present time are watercolors, acrylics, and mixed media using beads. I love finding inspiration from other artists on Pinterest and Google and then put my own "spin" on a creation. My artistic style back as a youngster and teenager was very realistic as that was what I was instructed in. Nowadays, I prefer a more abstract approach using lots of color and details. I create lots of nature (butterflies, hummingbirds, and horses) because these subjects tend to speak to many of my patrons. I love to paint and I guess I could say that I also paint to live! I see ideas and challenges all around me and strive to recreate them my way.
