Shelley Koss is a Phoenix, Arizona award-winning fiber and watercolor artist. In the past three years she has won 13 local, regional, and international awards for her artwork. She has been juried into 20 juried national and international fiber and watercolor exhibitions in 2023-2025.

Much of Shelley’s art relates to her perception of nature and social issues. Watercolor, fabric, and thread are her paint. Her realism portraits are driven by a need to know the intimate details of her subjects while her more abstract creations recognize that nature is playful.

"Dragonfly Fiber1" is Inktense watercolor painted on fabric. The fabric is layered with wool and cotton, then quilted on a longarm. The artwork is bound with a hidden facing. The resulting image has a thread painted whirling shadow as the background.

“Dragonfly 1” and “Dragonfly 2” are created using watercolor. Each watercolor captures a realistic or impressionist view of beautiful fauna or flora. The dragonflies embed the joy in nature by using vibrant colors. The pear captures the subtleness of color changes in the pear skin from light brown to chartreuse in bright light and shadow.

More of her artwork, including more watercolors and fiber art, may be found on her website at www.shelleykossart.com. She is also on Instagram and Facebook.
