Patty Hochhaus Wins Scottsdale Artists League Artist of the Year!

Congratulations Patty for being the Scottsdale Artists League Artist of the Year!

“I am so grateful and surprised that I was given this honor! I have worked in art/design for my entire working life -- from architecture in my 20s to web design in my 30s, to teaching art, art history, and design in my 40s -- to culinary artis in my 50s! It was only a little over a year ago that I dedicated myself to my first love of drawing and painting full time. There are so many times lately that I have questioned that choice, but the great honor of this award has helped me so much in realizing that it is a good and gracious thing to share my art with my community, just as I find joy and inspiration from all the other amazing artists in SAL -- and we all need more joy and inspiration in our lives! This painting “Koi Play” is a painting of some of my koi in my small backyard pond, and the moment they pop up to greet me at feeding time! My favorite pasttime is to take a break and sit by my pond, feeding and watching the graceful koi glide through the water. This painting reminds me of that peace.” - Patty Hochhaus
