Scottsdale Artist League Inaugural Statewide Exhibition

Prospectus

 This annual exhibition is a new signature event for the Scottsdale Artists League (SAL). It is open to all Arizona residents, and membership in SAL  is not required. The show’s award-winning paintings will be displayed at Pearson & Co. (April 3-5, 2025) and online via Scottsdaleartistsleague.com (April 3-May 31, 2025). All accepted art will be promoted heavily on Social Media and through various websites.

The Scottsdale Gallery Association’s (SGA’s) Gold Palette ArtWalks are offered throughout the year in addition to the SGA’s weekly Thursday evening ArtWalks and feature extended gallery hours, special activities and experiences for attendees such as complimentary wine tasting and/or small bites, and live music and entertainment that align with each event’s theme. This exhibit will be held during the SGA’s 50th anniversary and Scottsdale's design week, ensuring a large art patron audience is in attendance. Pearson and Company is nestled in between several prestigious galleries with international followings.

Notification of acceptance, and awards to Artists: March 21st 

Please note that intake and pick-up time are limited, and no shipping/receiving of paintings is allowed.

Award of Excellence winners intake:

Artwork must be hand-delivered, ready to hang, and be labeled with the following:

Artist name, title, medium, image size, price, and year completed

Please note this is an outdoor show.  Work will be placed inside overnight and re-hung in the morning.

Pearson & Co Show dates: Our Award of Excellence Artists will be showcased in person at a 3-day event in downtown Scottsdale. Additional awards will be announced opening night. All pieces remain on display through Saturday, April 5th, 8 pm.

Fri, April 4 - 11 am-8 pm

Sat, April 5 - 11 am-8 pm

Unsold work can be picked up at Pearson & Co. on Saturday, August 5th, at 8 p.m. or by pre-scheduled arrangement. Artists will be notified of sold work that occurs during the show.

Awards:

  • Best of Show $100

  • 1st $75, 2nd $50, 3rd $25

  • Award of Excellence (Winners of this award will be displayed in person during the weekend show at Pearson and Company.)

Requirements for Submission:

Requirements

  1. The artist must be over 18 and a current resident of the State of Arizona.

  2. Submitted artwork must be original 2D works in concept and design, made solely by the artist. Must have been created within the past 2 years.

  3. All visual art media are accepted.

  4. Artwork must be submitted as digital JPEG images. Submit only one image per piece of artwork. The image shall be of the art only (no frames shown).

  5. Two-dimensional work must not exceed 36 inches in width and 48 inches in height. Art must be adequately wired and ready to hang (no sawtooth hangers). The hanging wire must be placed no more than one-quarter of the way from the top of the frame. Artwork with frames considered below minimal gallery standards will not be displayed. Mats must be neutral in color, clean, and professional in presentation. Gallery wraps are acceptable provided they are at least 1-1/2 inches deep and are painted on all four sides—weight limit of 20 pounds. 

  6.  Artwork shall be priced and available for sale. Consider in your pricing that Scottsdale Art League Commission is 30% of the sale price. 

  7. SAL handles all sales. Buyers will be allowed to take work at the time of purchase.

  8. Accepted artwork must be clearly labeled with the artist’s name, title of artwork, medium, year of completion, dimensions, and price on the back of the piece.

  9. Complex installation pieces may not be accepted for display.

  10. All applicants may submit a brief bio or artist statement with their submission; 250 characters maximum.

The artist retains copyright to the artwork; however, the Scottsdale Artist League reserves the right to photograph and publish images of the artwork for promotion for this exhibition and future exhibitions. Images:

Images should be in JPEG format, no larger than 1200 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Please name your files with the image number, last name, and title (e.g., “01-Picasso-Guernica”). 

Maximum of 2 MB file size per image.

The quality of the photograph reflects the quality of your work.
Be sure to crop all backgrounds.
Do not include the framing in the photograph.

Entry Fees:

  • SAL Members:
    1 to 3 pieces: $35

  • Non-Members:
    One Piece: $35
    Two Pieces: $40
    Three Pieces $45

Entrants must apply and pay online at www.scottsdaleartistsleague.com. Entry fees are non-refundable.
